Make It Stop

I'm ALL confused.

So, I'm still learning Spanish. Can even have a basic conversation in Spanish now. But every time I see someone from another country, ANY COUNTRY, my brain switches from English to Spanish. It's weird. My brain is equating their "foreign-ness" with the only foreign language I know, and I automatically start speaking it.

I was on the elevator at work one day, and someone from Japan got on. I was like "Hola!" (That's "Hello" for you non-Spanish speakers.). I was all happy and cheerful when I said it, too. Probably looking goofy.

When I realized what I'd done, I felt stupid as hell. I've done that AT LEAST 5 times already. I'm kind of afraid that I might inadvertently offend someone.
